Life

My cat, Boony, sunning himself on a bench in my painting room; meeting up with friends for drinks on a hot summer night; a couple making out on the grass in Elysian Park; my lush and overgrown backyard after a recent rain. In all of this work, I’m presenting a group of life-affirming images from my everyday existence. As with all of my painting, I’m open to new possibilities each time I approach the canvas. I allow the situation, the subject, and mostly the paint itself to influence or guide me towards the final image. Change is the unspoken yet apparent visual mantra behind my art because I’ve learned from experience that without transformation, nothing gets better.
